Vegetables
Just like our berries all of our vegetables are grown without any pesticides or herbicides. We also limit our use of plastic and only use it for greenhouse coverings and never for mulch. When we do use mulch we prefer using naturally occurring materials such as straw, old hay and wood chips. You don't want plastics in your food and neither do we.
We Start with prepping our beds in the fall, turning in our cover crops which helps build soil structure and then continue in the spring with a light tilling before we plant.
Almost all of our vegetables and leafy greens are started from seed indoors in early spring or outdoors later in the season. While starting seeds is sometimes a bit more work, the satisfaction of seeing them sprout and grow into productive plants makes it worthwhile.
